New: AI to power actionable insight for DevOps

After thousands of hours of research and development, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our biggest feature yet in the development insights suite! This week we’re introducing AI Insights, a major step in our commitment to helping teams gain visibility into their development process.

    How it works

The AI Insights feature in the Optimal app uses advanced algorithms and machine learning to collect and analyze millions of data points on development activities over a specified time frame. AI Insights automatically integrates with PR cycle time (more integrations are coming) and analyzes development data – from PR size to open time, to merge time – to provide insights on the delivery lifecycle.

This feature is designed to help teams identify patterns and trends in the data, thereby gaining actionable insights for improvement. Take a look at the below example.

    What’s AI Insights Good For

This feature is useful for engineering leaders, team leads and decision-makers who need to gain a deeper understanding of the project dynamics. The AI Insights feature helps teams quickly identify anomalies, or areas needing attention or improvement, and also provides recommendations on best practices. It’s like having a full-time team of data scientists, providing you with insights on your development cycle, when you need them.

    Key Questions AI Insights Answers:

    • Identifying bottlenecks: Which PR is becoming the bottleneck that affects your project? Which PR is having the most impact on the delivery cycle? The tool spots these critical areas, allowing you to address them proactively.
    • Trend analysis: How is your team’s productivity trending over time? AI Insights provides a clear picture of your team’s efficiency and productivity, helping you make informed decisions.
    • Activity tracking: What are your project’s most active or stagnant areas? Understanding where your team is most engaged or lacking momentum is crucial for engineering teams.
    • Best practices: What actions should be taken to improve the cycle time? This new feature provides you with instant recommendations to help your team stay on course and improve the development process.

    Decision-Making with AI

We’re hoping that this new feature will empower you to make data-informed decisions on resource allocation, process optimization, or prioritization of tasks. Engineering leaders can use insights to unblock teams, allocate resources more effectively, prioritize tasks or pull requests that matter, and adjust internal engineering processes.

We are excited to see how AI will improve your workflow and engineering efficiency. And stay tuned for our next big release!
